In Windows Vista, Microsoft introduced the User Access Control (UAC) security infrastructure. Windows 7 contains a more relaxed version. It aims to improve security of Windows by limiting application software to standard user privileges, until it is authorized by an adminstrator.
You can select how strict or lax you want the UAC to be.
There are two ways you can navigate to the UAC options, you can either select the flag icon on the start bar and choose to open the action centre, and then select the option in the sidebar,

You can also select the control panel from the start menu

You then need to select System and Security

You then select "Change User Account Control settings"

No matter which way you navigate to the settings this is the screen you will see:

To change the settings of the UAC, you just slide the bar to your preference, you can choose whether you want to be notified whenever you make changes to Windows settings and when programs make changes, just when programs make changes, just when programs make changes (this setting is the same as the defualt setting except that the desktop won't be dimmed), or you can choose to not be notified at all.
Once you've made your changes click ok and you will need to give adminstrator priviliges, and then you're all done!
