You can see any updates that are ready to be installed on the home screen. In the sidebar on the right hand side you can select to check for updates, change settings, view update history, restore hidden updates, view frequently asked questions and view installed updates.
As most of these are self-explanatory I am just going to go through changing the settings for Windows Update. Start by clicking the change settings link in the sidebar.
You can choose how often you want updates to be installed, whether or not they should be automatically installed, as well as choose who can install updates and how you will receive recommended updates, which are not as necessary to update as important updates.
Configuring updates is relatively easy to do. The default setting is to have all updates automatically installed so that you don't have to do anything
