This is useful to for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it's a good way to back up everything on your hard disk, and restore it if necessary. Secondly, if you work for a company running multiple PC's with the same requirements, you can create a system image of one of the PC's and then deploy it to all of the others (we'll get on to deploying the image after this), and then all of the PC's will have exactly the same settings. You can also create an "answer file" so that if you are deploying multiple images at once you can leave the installations unattended as the answers to the installation questions will be provided by the file.
To start this process you will need to type into the start menu "back up" and click on the link for "back up your computer"

On the sidebar you need to select "create a system image"

Your PC will then look for a place to store the backup, this may be a hard drive, USB flash drive or disk drive.

We are creating the system image on a disc.

Next you will need to confirm your back up destination

The system will then start backing up

You may need to format the disk that you are using.

The disk will then be formatted

The backup will then continue.

You will first need to select the disk driving, then your PC will create the repair disk without needing any user input.

That's it. the system image disk and system repair disks have been created, you will now be able to restore your computer from these disks.
