Configure BitLocker To Go

My last post explained how to encrypt an operating system drive using BitLocker (you can find that post here) however it is also possible to configure BitLocker on removable devices, such as USB flash drive, so that's what I'm going to show you how to do.
You will need to open your control panel and select System and Security.

Then you need to select BitLocker Drive Encryption.

Now rather than selecting the operating system hard disk, select to turn on BitLocker for the removable device you would like to encrypt (yes my USB stick is named Thorin).

The drive will be initialized.

You will then need to select whether you would like to use a password or smartcard to unlock the drive.

You then need to select whether you would like to save the recovery key to a file or print the key.

You can then start encrypting the drive.

Once the encryption is complete you can remove the drive.

And that's it. Removable device encrypted!
