Upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista.

This post will cover how to upgrade your PC from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
I will be doing this on a virtual machine, there is a guide on how to set one up here.
Before you can upgrade you will need to create a Windows Easy Transfer disk so that when you have your new system up and running you can easily transfer the data from your old computer. You can find out how to do it here
As I will be using a virtual machine, the disc I am running the upgrade from is a mounted ISO, if you are using a physical computer you will need to insert the install disc into your CD drive.
If the install doesn't automatically run you will need to go to my computer, double click on the install disc. You may need to give permission for the action to be completed.

You can then select to install Windows 7.

You may be prompted to install updates in order to upgrade the operating system.

Your PC will then search for an install updates.

You will then need to accept the terms and conditions.

You will then need to select whether you would like to perform a clean installation or an upgrade. For the purpose of this guide we will be upgrading, you can find out how to perform a clean installation here

The installer will now copy over Windows files and programs, and transfer them to the new operating system.

Your PC will then restart, and conhtinue with the upgrade.

Your computer may restart a number of times during this upgrade
Once all of the files, settings and programs have been transferred your computer will restart again.
You will then need to select how you would like Windows Updates to be installed.

You will then need to select your timezone,
and your network,

And now you're running Windows 7.
